Many people feel that midnight releases of movies are some silly waste of time. They ask why anyone would want to stay up so late and fight huge crowds of people just to see a movie that you can enjoy in tranquility in a matter of a few days after the original release. Those people have clearly never actually been to one. A midnight release is an eventâan experience unto itself. It brings a sense of friendship and camaraderie with fellow movie goers that one misses when attending with only one other person or at best a handful of carefully chosen friends. A midnight movie release brings together a large group of people who are all passionate about the same thing, thereby allowing someone to make a range of new and interesting friends in a small span of time because of the fact he or she already knows these other people are very similar and have the same likes. Once it is time for the film itself instead of just the waiting in line making new acquaintances, it is a time of fun and excitement. You are getting to watch a movie you have been dying to see before a great deal of people have the opportunity, and you have an entire theater with which to enjoy itâincluding spastic clapping when the opening titles appear and dead silence throughout the rest of the movie so that no one will miss anything unless another quick round of applause is necessary (such as a cameo by the author of the book on which the movie was based).
